The 2018 Mustang GT has already broken into the 11’s in basically stock form, with only an x-pipe, weld wheels and a sticky tire Late Model Restoration has ran an impressively fast 11.88 at 119.81 mph! This is the fastest basically stock 2018 Mustang GT to date, the guys over at Team Beefcake racing on the same day ran an 11.32 at 123.89 mph with the assistance of a 100 shot of nitrous, Weld wheels, aluminum driveshaft, Steeda “stop the hop package”, Corsa quad exhaust system(which bolts right up from the 2015-2017 Mustang) and a sticky tire.
The new 10 speed transmission for the Mustang is helping the car accelerate very well and put the power down effectively. Previously the engine would pull power back during shift, but in the 2018 Mustang GT optioned with the Performance Package and the 10 speed transmission you get “drag mode” which give the car full power during shifts. It actually pushes you through the gears where previously it pull back the reigns.
What a great time to be a Mustang enthusiast! The 2018 Mustang GT is the best mustang yet and I look forward to see more 1/4 mile times and then finally when Motor Trend magazine does their head to head with the 2018 Camaro SS 1LE.
But the big news is the Level 2 Performance Package for the 2018 Mustang GT which includes 305/30/19 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s on all four corners, stiffer springs, sway bars and half an inch lower to the ground.
